Most of this suburb was built out in one era. Whole streets were cut into narrow terrace lots, and double-brick rows went up shoulder to shoulder with barely a gap between them.

The terraces that have been opened up and re-plumbed during a renovation are the known quantity here. It's the untouched ones, original from footpath to back fence, where the camera earns its keep.

That's a different fault to a slow, shale-driven joint failure, and it needs a different response: clearing the stormwater pit and pipe run itself rather than the sewer line.

2. Shift the blockage. High-pressure water jetting for silt and grease, the electric eel where roots have taken hold.
3. Repair the cause. A failed joint gets fixed at the source, relined where the pipe allows, so the same metre doesn't block again.
4. Prove it, then go. You watch the water run before we pack up, and the yard's left clean and tidy.
